They will read briefly from their work\, then discuss how and why they write and the process by which they have sold book-length manuscripts to publishers. A question-and-answer period will follow.\nPublishers Weekly called Johnson’s book Rescuing Claire “an immensely appealing first novel\,” Kirkus Reviews describing his prose as “muscular.” Booklist called the lengthy first piece in Bukoski’s The Thief of Words “striking\,” going on to say\, “Bukoski’s stories finely capture the unobserved weight of identity and things left behind.” Smith’s rich and wise debut story collection\, Silent Negotiations\, will be published in February 2027 by Cornerstone Press.

In partnership with our friends at North Shore SUP\, this event will help you connect with the breathtaking beauty of the St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail. \nIf you’ve ever been curious about Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) or haven’t had formal instruction\, this free\, beginner-friendly event is perfect for you. The class includes a combination of on-land instruction and on-water paddling time\, creating a supportive learning environment for first-time paddlers. \nMeet us at Munger Landing’s sandy launch for an engaging and instructional hour-long introduction to Stand Up Paddleboarding. Participants will learn SUP basics\, including how to properly size and handle equipment\, board anatomy and terminology\, proper stance\, paddling techniques and transitions\, and a bit of SUP history along the way. This will be in a fun and safe\, immersive learning environment where all equipment is provided for you. Registration information coming soon!\nMEET AT The Lake Superior Estuarium on Barker’s Island in Superior\, WI.\nIn July\, baby birds begin to “graduate” into adulthood as they prepare for migration. Come join us for a celebration of this exciting adventure for the new adult birds!\nWe welcome people of all ages and ability levels to attend this accessible birding event at the Lake Superior Estuarium in Superior. Choices include:\n move along a short\, packed gravel path along the river with a bird guide\nexplore more stationary bird activities at your own pace\n\n\nAmerican Sign Language interpretation is provided. We have binoculars for people to use\, a spotting scope\, a wheelchair mount for binoculars\, and portable seating. A track chair — an all-terrain\, electric-powered chair that can be used on hiking trails — will be available\, along with a scooter and walkers\, courtesy of indiGO.\n Free bus transportation is provided from the UW-Superior Parking Lot 2 (behind Burger King). The bus will leave the UW-Superior Parking Lot 2 for Woodstock Bay at 9:20 am. We encourage you to RIDE THE BUS to save the  limited on-site parking spots for those who need to drive. Register above to save a spot on the bus!!\nCome and stay for the whole time or meet up with and leave the group when you need. Light refreshments will be available. DESCRIPTION:08-10-26 Lead CameMondays 5:30pm – 8:00pm (3 weeks\, 8/10\, 8/17 and 8/24)This class is designed to teach you the techniques of lead came including pattern preparation\, safety\, cutting the Lead Came and soldering it together. You will leave with a finished leaded panel. Please choose your glass and bevels prior to class to save time on class day. Several pattern to choose from depending on skill level. Prerequisite is Beginning Stained Glass; great for all levels of Lead Came knowledge. Class fee is $85 and materials are extra.Price: $85.00Registration – Your registration in any class is secured upon receipt of full payment of your class fee. If you need to cancel we need at least 7 days advance notice. With 7 days notice\, you will receive store credit for your tuition. Otherwise\, you will forfeit the tuition.
