Join us for snacks and prizes while cleaning up our favorite local spot. \nThe Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve\, in partnership with the City of Superior\, are holding another annual Spring Beach Cleanup at the Point! Wisconsin Point is a wonderful destination for relaxing\, refreshing\, and enjoying the shoreline of Lake Superior. \nSince the Friends adopted Wisconsin Point from the City of Superior back in 2021\, we strive to keep the beach as healthy and pristine as can be! Help us keep to this promise by joining us for our 2026 Spring Beach Cleanup on Saturday\, May 9. \nSnacks\, water\, and supplies (trash bags\, grabbers\, and disposable plastic gloves) will be provided. Please wear clothing suited for the weather and close-toed shoes. Meet at Lot 1 Wisconsin Point at 9:30 am for instructions and supplies. Look for the Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve table and sign. \nIn the event in inclement weather\, a cancellation email will be sent to all registered participants and a notice will be posted on the Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve’s Facebook page.

With spring migration already upon us\, we can hope to see the first glimpse of a variety of forest birds such as warblers\, sparrows\, and swallows\, and waterbirds such as grebes\, mergansers\, and more at Nagaajiwanaang\, where the St. Louis River widens and slows down at the beautiful Chambers Grove Park.\n**American Sign Language interpretation is provided.\nWe welcome people of all ages\, disabilities\, abilities\, and bird observation experiences to attend this accessible bird observation event at Chambers Grove (Highway 23 & 137th Avenue West\, Duluth\, MN). Sit or move along a packed gravel path throughout the park with expert bird guides to lead discussion and aid observation! Join us for our new River Revival event series\, a monthly gathering to learn about the river\, ongoing restoration at Wisconsin Point and Allouez Bay\, and ways to connect with this special place. \nHosted the third Thursday of the month April-September\, each event features engaging presentations from local partners and knowledge holders\, along with hands-on creative activities\, informal conversation\, and opportunities to share your questions and perspectives. \nJoin us for our first River Revival on Thursday\, April 16 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Superior Public Library. Anishinaabe artist\, educator\, and community organizer Giizh Agaton Howes of Heart Berry will share about the ~11-mile inaugural Anishinaabe Canoe Migration she organized on the St. Louis River in 2025. Come hear from the paddlers who followed ancestral waterways from Chambers Grove to Woodstock Bay in an ongoing effort to reconnect community with the water. Members will share their perspective on the cultural importance of the St. Louis River and Wisconsin Point. \nFollowing the presentation\, participants are invited to create their own river-inspired artwork in a hands-on block printing activity (all materials provided). Wisconsin DNR staff will also be present to share updates on current restoration work at Wisconsin Point and Allouez Bay and answer questions. Come listen\, learn\, create\, and connect with the living stories of the river.
