
Duluth-based trio Eira will perform “Winter Solstice Fire: Celtic Music for the Season” with an appearance from members of Willowgreen for a memorial/tribute to its longtime harpist Georganne Hunter.
This special holiday concert will be held at 2 pm Sunday, Dec. 21 on the beautiful Sacred Heart altar stage.
Eira (pronounced “era” in North America) features Willowgreen members Jim Ofsthun, Sue Spencer and Bridget Spencer. The trio performs music from Scotland, Ireland, Newfoundland, Canada, Wales, China, Scandinavia and the United States. Its repertoire includes traditional, contemporary, and original songs and tunes sung in English, Gaelic, Irish, Welsh, Chinese, and more, played on fiddle, erhu, guitars, bodhrán, bouzouki, mandolin, button accordion, and whistles.
E-tickets will be available for $15 (plus $2.85 in fees) at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31 HERE. Paper tickets will be available for $15 at Globe News in Superior (cash only) and Zenith Bookstore in West Duluth (plus $1 handling fee). Tickets will be available at the door while supply lasts for $20. Doors at 1 pm. Music at 2 pm.
