La Serva Padrona: A Comic Opera @ Sacred Heart Music Center

Palo native Steve Solkela and his My Humble Opera will stage their hilarious version of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona live on the beautiful Sacred Heart altar stage at 7:30 pm Friday, April 18.

La Serva Padrona was written and composed in the 18th Century and has been performed to laughing audiences ever since. The story revolves around a bachelor in a powdered wig who marries his servant after she tricks him into believing she will marry a military man. The performance will include modern English subtitles.

Solkela, an accordionist who also performs as Steve Solkela’s Overpopulated One Man Band, will play Uberto, the elderly bachelor.

Advance E-Tickets will be available beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28 for $20 (plus $3.18 handling fee) HERE on Eventbrite.com. Advance paper tickets will be available at Globe News in Superior (cash only) and Zenith Bookstore in West Duluth (plus $1 handling fee). Tickets will be available at the door for $25 while they last. Doors at 6:30 pm. Music at 7:30 pm.
