In October 2023 the Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial was unveiled in Duluth, MN – a collaboration   between sculptor Carla J. Stetson and writer Anthony Peyton Porter that has been described by one art historian as “the first substantial public lynching memorial” in the United States.

This illustrated lecture will discuss the memorial and offer perspectives on how it strives to “bring the truth to light” about a shocking event in twentieth century Duluth history.

Flyer for a lecture event titled "Bringing the Truth to Light" on April 3rd at 5:00 PM about the Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial. It includes an image of the memorial statue and details the history and significance of Duluth's historical events.
