DESCRIPTION:Join the St. Louis River Alliance on Wednesday\, April 22nd from 2:00-3:00 p.m. for a volunteer cleanup event at Woodstock Bay Public Landing in Superior\, Wisconsin in celebration of Earth Day! \nOur partners at the City of Superior will provide garbage bags\, pickers\, gloves\, and buckets. We will be working near the water at times\, so wear long clothing\, gloves\, and high-boots if you have them; dress for the weather\, and do not forget a water bottle! \nLocation: Meet at the Woodstock Bay Public Landing Parking Lot (15 White Birch Trail\, Superior\, WI 54880). Please check in with SLRA staff/volunteer for clean-up gear\, and a waiver if you have not signed one electronically using the link below. \nIf you are interested in volunteering\, you can email Mikayla at watertrail@stlouisriver.org (or just show up). SUMMARY:RIVER REVIVAL | Anishinaabe Canoe Migration: Culture and Connection on the St. Louis River w/St. Louis River Alliance @ Superior Public Library - Superior
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first River Revival on Thursday\, April 16 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Superior Public Library. Anishinaabe artist\, educator\, and community organizer Giizh Agaton Howes of Heart Berry will share about the ~11-mile inaugural Anishinaabe Canoe Migration she organized on the St. Louis River in 2025. Come hear from the paddlers who followed ancestral waterways from Chambers Grove to Woodstock Bay in an ongoing effort to reconnect community with the water. Members will share their perspective on the cultural importance of the St. Louis River and Wisconsin Point. \n\nFollowing the presentation\, participants are invited to create their own river-inspired artwork in a hands-on block printing activity (all materials provided). Wisconsin DNR staff will also be present to share updates on current restoration work at Wisconsin Point and Allouez Bay and answer questions. Come listen\, learn\, create\, and connect with the living stories of the river.

Join St. Louis River Alliance and Minnesota Sea Grant for a free ‘River Orientation and Trip Planning’ event on Thursday\, April 9\, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Morgan Park Community Center (1242 88th Ave W\, Duluth). \nThis event will equip you with the information and tools you need for a safe and successful outing on the St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail. Participants will learn about local access points\, safety considerations\, weather planning\, route selections\, and basic gear recommendations! Minnesota Sea Grant will cover the importance of flexibility when planning trips\, how to fill out a float plan\, and discuss drowning hotspots around the estuary. \nAll attendees will receive a free St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail map to follow along during the presentation. DESCRIPTION:Join the St. Louis River Alliance and St. Louis River Area of Concern coordinators for an evening celebrating the recovery of manoomin (wild rice) in the St. Louis River Estuary. This free community event will take place Tuesday\, April 7\, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Clyde Iron Works (2920 W. Michigan St.) in Duluth. \nDiscover why manoomin is vital to the health of the river\, what its return tells us about decades of restoration work\, and what this progress means for the future of our community. Local organizations will be tabling and eager to share their projects\, stories\, and opportunities to get involved. \nThe evening will feature special guest speaker Deanna Erickson\, Director of the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve\, who will share insights on the importance of this sacred plant and all the St. Louis River relatives wild rice supports—including those of us living along\, paddling\, and ricing these waters. \nFree and open to the public. Free pizza will be served.
