For the first time in roughly 20 years, three unit owners of the Roosevelt Terrace will be opening their homes for public tours as a fundraiser for the Douglas County Historical Society. Built in 1890 by James Roosevelt (FDR’s father), these grand Gilded Age historic condos designed by famed local architect Carl Wirth have been through the city’s boom and bust cycles and feature architectural elements from the last 133 years. On the National Register of Historic Places, these units contain multiple fireplaces (every one in the building is different), large open stairwells with skylights, and large floor plans built into a dense development plan to maximize property usage in a time of the city’s boom era. This is a unique opportunity to see these historic brownstones built for the city’s elite residents and see “green” and sustainable living which serve as a model for affordable housing with ownership in our community.

Tickets are available at https://bookeo.com/dchswi. If you are unable to make it and would like to sponsor a ticket for another guest or make a donation to the historical society please head to https://www.douglashistory.org/support/make-a-gift/ or Venmo @DouglasHistoryWI

If you need financial assistance to attend the event, please contact the museum office. We will do our best to accommodate you. Please note, this tour does feature many stairs for the the full experience.
