Rayala, a Shake and Bake Sgt. served as 1st Platoon squad leader during his entire tour. Initiated into combat on June 5, just days after his arrival, set the tone of his tour. His book details his Central Highlands experience, including a day that awarded him the Purple Heart. But unlike other memoirs, continues on to now, his 80th decade.
