South End Activities

From easygoing to mind-blowing. Let’s have some fun!

Village Lanes

Rating:  Easygoing

This ultra-local alley is an old-school good time. Get in a few games on weekend afternoons, or grab a pizza and go for spectator fun on packed league nights.

It works for:
• Grandparents
• Teenagers
• Parents who suddenly get very serious about their form

It’s affordable, weather-proof, and reliably fun.

Superior Paintball

Rating:  Competitive/fast-paced

Every trip needs one moment where someone says, “Okay, this just got real.” Superior Paintball is that moment. Teens love it. Competitive adults love it. Siblings settle debates with it. And afterward, everyone agrees it was the highlight of the trip.

Seriously, you need to play this course.

Race cars speed around a dirt track at sunset, viewed through a chain-link fence. A digital scoreboard displays lap counts in the background, with trees silhouetted against the orange sky.

Gondik Law Speedway

Rating: Loud/Exhilarating

Blink, and you might miss it – but you shouldn’t. On race days, Gondik Law Speedway comes alive with engine noise, flying dirt, and a crowd that’s all in. It’s casual, a little chaotic, and a whole lot of fun. Local dirt racing at its best.

Skydive Duluth
(but it’s actually in Superior!)

Rating:  Mind-blowing

Skydive Duluth is right near South End at the Richard I. Bong Airport in Superior, Wisconsin.

This is your chance to:
• Strap in with a certified instructor
• Climb high over Lake Superior
• Leap out of a perfectly good airplane
• Freefall like a majestic (slightly screaming) human eagle

About 45 seconds of adrenaline, followed by a peaceful parachute ride with sweeping views of Superior, Duluth, and the Lake Superior Shoreline. It’s bold. It’s unforgettable. It’s definitely not your average Saturday. Reservations required. Bragging rights included.

Must-Eat Restaurants

Eat Like a Local in South Superior
Trendy? Not really. Satisfying? Absolutely.

A close-up of a grilled sandwich filled with corned beef, melted cheese, and caramelized onions, cut in half on a white plate. The logo “Mama T’s Smokin’ Eats & Drinks” is featured in the corner.

Mama T’s

Comfort food that hugs you back.

You’ll sit down hungry and leave wondering if you should’ve ordered dessert too. (Yeahhh, you should have.) This isn’t tiny portions arranged with tweezers. This is pub food that means it. Plus, a signature Bloody Mary so mean – you’ll be planning to come back for another before you even leave town.

Wide World of Wings

Leave pretense at the door. This isn’t ironic, hipster culture. This is the real deal in Northwest Wisconsin hospitality. Wings and pub grub at prices that are seriously unmatched in the state. Plus, friend pickles. Game. Set. Match.

Shamrock Pizza

Because every great weekend deserves a pizza night. Fans of this nostalgic pizza joint are die-hards, and even the “nay-sayers” (ie, people with a different local favorite) admit that it’s great pizza in a cool atmosphere. You be the judge. Dine in. Or take it back to your hotel. Eat it in sweatpants. We don’t judge. Calories don’t count on vacation. We checked.
