Join us for a plant walk guided by Valerie Ross Zhaawendaagozikwe at the Cloquet Forestry Center. She will discuss plants that can be harvested late summer at the Cloquet Forestry Center. Valerie will explain plant uses and how they can be stored.
Valerie Zhaawendaagozikwe combines her Biology and Environmental Science bachelors with more than ten years of experience working with plant medicine and wild plant foods. She belongs to the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe and the Long Plain First Nation and is a direct descendant of Fond du Lac. Valerie shares plant knowledge leads others in plant identification and remains grounded in ceremony and traditional teachings. Introduced to plant medicines by her father, Napoleon Ross, she blends modern science with Indigenous ways of knowing to support ecological understanding and cultural revitalization.
