This family-friendly event takes place on January 26th and 27th, 2024 at Barkers Island in Superior, Wisconsin. From festive fireworks to sensational ice sculptures, this festival is worth a trip to Wisconsin’s Winter CapitalTM.
Games & Activities
There are so many interactive activities for people of all ages at the Lake Superior Ice Festival! Grab a few buddies and join the popular Kubb tournament, or enjoy a s’more by the fire. While most activities are considered family-friendly, there are also specific activities just for kids!
- Kubb Tournament
- A combination of horseshoes and bowling, this Viking-inspired game is one of the most popular activities at the festival. Grab some friends and you could be crowned the champion. Register Here!
- For the Kiddos
- Kids can build their own bird feeders or make some cute buttons! Be sure to grab a hug from the cuddly polar bear mascot and meet the Princesses just down the road at the Fairlawn Mansion.
- Bonfires and S’mores
- Get sticky. Fires and s’mores are located all around the Lake Superior Ice Festival and are free to attendees!
- Mini Golf
- Test your putting skills on a 9-hole mini golf experience put on by Nemadji Golf! Golfers will have to navigate all sorts of obstacles to sink the perfect shot. Also, be sure to check out the disc golf opportunities!
Attractions & Events
On top of participating in festivities, there are a number of demonstrations and events to pique your interest. Fireworks, ice sculpture demonstrations, and Kubb instruction are all attractions that are sure to catch your eye.

- See the Krystal Kleer Ice Sculptors in action as they carve masterpieces out of blocks of ice! Demonstrations and photo opportunities are available.
- Learn to Play Kubb
- This free instructional event is open to people of all ages and ability levels. Learn to play the game and see if you can “slay the King.”
- Blacksmith Demonstrations
- Fire and ice – the perfect combination! Chris Gross from Stackpole Forge will be demonstrating his blacksmith skills on Saturday!

The Lake Superior Ice Festival brings in food and beverage vendors from across the region, but sometimes it’s nice to warm up with some quality cuisine indoors.
